QUARRY WALK – FIRST STEP IN ENERGY INDENDENCE

Haynes Development has selected Encon, a full-service commercial energy solutions provider located in Stratford, CT as the solar supply company for Quarry Walk (QW), their 32+/- acre mix-use development in Oxford, Connecticut located between I-84 (Southbury) and CT Route 8 (Seymour) .

Quarry Walk has plans to be the state’s most resilient mix-use development and currently plans to install 850KW +/- of Photovoltaic solar and a 400kw fuel cell. Renewable energy systems are key to creating a town center that would be able to maintain it services to the community and beyond in the event of a prolonged power outage.

“Our vision is to set a higher standard for sustainability which we are incorporating in both our construction and business continuity plans for our tenants” said Tom Haynes, President of Haynes Development. “We incorporated equipment and building materials that are energy efficient and locally sourced, the beautiful gneiss stone that showcases each building at Quarry Walk was sourced right here from this very site. It is all
part of our sustainability story. ” Tom Haynes proudly explained.

John Dunster of Northeast Energy Design and Solutions (NEEDS) who is overseeing the renewable energy plans for the development said “Encon was a great fit for this project, their experience and ability to work with ourteam of builders to hit some aggressive timelines was a key factor in the selection. Having the right partner for the solar component will enable the Haynes team to confidently offer some unique benefits to Quarry Walk tenants.”

Kathy Ekstrom, Development Manager, who leads the leasing and tenant relationship efforts recognizes solar as yet another way in which Quarry Walk can differentiate itself from other potential sites for their prospective tenants. “Today, many retailers and business owners are very interested in knowing that the facilities are on the cutting edge of sustainability. They are also excited to hear that there are plans to provide resources that
will enable them to remain open in the event of a natural disaster, should an event like Super Sandy reoccur.” explained Ekstrom
